Banja made of KELO
The Banja originated in Russia, where it was and still is used in many places as a traditional bathing house for cleaning the body and relaxing.
Since approximately the middle of the 1990s, the Banja has also been established in public bathhouses in Germany and is happily becoming more popular there.
The sweat room – with an antechamber for resting – is made from wood, and laid out as tiered benches with a stone-clad oven and a basin.
The climate in the room differs from that of a sauna through lower temperatures of approximately 50 to 70 degrees Celsius and increasing humidity up to formation of a mist. This is generated by regular introduction of softened birch branches (Weniks), which have been submerged several times in the water basin and then are waved about in the room.
Another variation in the experience is a “thrashing” with the Weniks from the staff of the bathing house. In this way, the skin is cleansed and the blood circulation is stimulated.
A KELO Banja is a real rarity. We are the right contact when you want to upgrade the outdoor areas. The guests of the bathhouse will be delighted.
